INSIGHT... are you listening to your intuition?
This week, my Food & Spirit™ studies took me into the sixth system of health, the INSIGHT.
This system primarily represents our intuition or ‘sixth sense’ - the ability to gain perspective from within through the combination of inner wisdom and our external experiences.
If we can harness our intuition effectively, it really can guide our lives, helping us to make choices that serve us and others best - and this includes helping us make positive, true and healthful choices around food and eating.
Themes linking into the this system include our higher mind, discernment, perception, imagination, intellect and cognition. This is all connected with brain function, eyesight, mood, memory, mindfulness, meditation, sleep and dreams, and also the symbolic aspects to messages we may receive when the mind is balanced.
The INSIGHT is associated with the deep blue-purple colour, indigo and here's where we explore nourishment of the pituitary gland and hypothalamus with mood-altering foods such as herbs and spices, caffeine and cacao, also healthy fats (think omega 3s!), blue-purple foods, like berries, which are rich in brain-protective anthocyanins, along with mindful and intuitive eating practices.
